Q Oh, where to begin on this one? Hair and its importance has been studied from a variety of standpoints and yet despite these studies most women still feel a sense of isolation when dealing with their own. Review a "Sociology of Hair" in this study that examines hair, pop culture and college campuses. Finally, consider hair and ethnicity conundrums that have plagued our society. One of my former students did her WOMS 387 project as a video essay over "Natural Hair in the Corporate World". The personality may be judged based on hair only without even considering the way a person talks or behaves. This fact is totally based on the bias of people who consider different scales of race and sex to categorize people. Or, perhaps less extreme, that first time someone said something negative about your own hair (or a woman you know) and how that single statement can completely alter how a woman feels about herself?
